Dr. Helia Fanjul was born and raised in New York and attended Stony Brook University's School of Medicine. She majored in Biochemistry and was studying to become a Pharmacologist. She also began her career working as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Stony Brook University Hospital in order to get some patient care experience. Her career and life plans drastically changed in her senior year when she began to notice that her occasional headaches had turned into daily migraines and was slowly impairing her ability to function. She was a frequent visitor in the infirmary and found that she was repeating the same symptoms over and over at every visit and the only course of treatment offered were prescriptions for pain medicine. No progress was ever being made and she began to grow frustrated with the medical system.
It was not until a family member recommended she go to a Chiropractor that she discovered the Chiropractic profession. After the Chiropractor showed her x-rays of her neck and pointed out the misalignment of the top 2 vertebrae in her upper cervical spine, Dr. Helia realized the true cause of her migraines. A series of specific adjustments in her neck later, she noticed her migraines were not coming back and at that moment decided to change career paths and become a Chiropractor. This firsthand experience made her want to get into a profession that took patients off of pain pills, instead of making more of them. Her philosophy of health completely changed and she discovered that healing comes from within, and in order for a body to heal and function it needs to have the right environment. She changed her lifestyle and realized that Chiropractic care, whole nutrition and exercise needed to be a permanent way of life.
After obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Stony Brook University, Dr. Helia immediately enrolled at Life University in Atlanta, GA and later graduated with her Doctor of Chiropractic degree. She found her passion in family chiropractic care and completed post graduate studies in pediatric and prenatal chiropractic through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA). With her science background, she analyzed the Webster Technique for its safety and efficacy during pregnancy and published her research in the Journal of Pediatric, Maternal and Family Health in April 2011.
In 2010, she graduated the Doctor of Chiropractic program and completed all of her national board and state licensing exams. Dr. Helia then decided to move to Jupiter, Florida and opened Jupiter Family Chiropractic in 2011. Her manual adjusting style is a blend of Thompson, Toggle and Gonstead techniques. She can also offer gentler techniques using the Activator Method and SOT (Sacro-Occipital Technique) blocking method. She believes the best adjustment is one that is tailored for each individual, based on their preferences and their needs. Over the years she has helped athletes, seniors, expecting mothers and children with subluxation focused Chiropractic care.
Dr. Helia Fanjul was selected as a Top Chiropractor in Palm Beach Illustrated's 2018 Top Doctors Edition.
Dr. Helia is also a mother to a 1 year old daughter and happily married. She enjoys meeting other mothers in the community and getting involved with events focused around healthy living. Over the last decade of practice, she has developed relationships with other health care practitioners in the area whom she commonly collaborates with.
